Vintage Carsten Tonnieshof Austrian Vase with Honey Glaze Band c1960s
This vintage Carsten Tonnieshof Austrian vase features a honey coloured abstract glaze band and mid‑century ceramic form marked 5032‑30 AUSTRIA.
Produced during the 1960s, this sculptural cylindrical vase showcases Carsten Tönnieshof’s signature textured ceramic body paired with a bold honey‑yellow glaze band enriched with brown tonal variation and expressive drip effects — a hallmark of the studio’s adventurous glaze work.
The underside is stamped 5032‑30 AUSTRIA, confirming production from Carsten’s Austrian output, which was produced in far smaller quantities than their West German lines.
Carsten Tönnieshof, based in Freden an der Leine, was known for innovative forms, tactile surfaces and strong modernist silhouettes, making Austrian‑marked examples especially desirable among collectors of European studio ceramics.
A standout decorative piece for collectors of West German pottery, mid‑century ceramics or modernist European design.
