Michel Caugant Duck and Chicken Paté Terrines – 1960s
Vintage Pair of Michel Caugant Duck & Chicken Paté Terrines French Faience Ceramic Mid-Century 1960s
A charming and collectible pair of Michel Caugant Duck & Chicken Paté Terrines, handcrafted in France during the 1960s. These whimsical faience dishes were originally designed to present fine paté at European festivals and have since become sought-after decorative pieces. Each terrine is shaped in the form of a duck and a chicken, with hand-painted details and a removable lid revealing a hollow interior. The chicken terrine is notably rarer than the duck, making this matched pair especially desirable for collectors.
Both pieces bear the original inscription: “Cette pièce en faïence véritable, a été entièrement réalisée à la main. Michel Caugant” (Translated: “This piece is true faience and was made entirely by hand. Michel Caugant.”)
